Decompression Sickness

Decompression sickness arises from bubbles formed in which nitrogen is dissolved in the blood and tissues by a rapid decrease in pressure surrounding the body in situations such as rapid ascend to the surface after scuba diving. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is the primary FDA approved treatment for decompression sickness. HBOT works by compressing the bubbles formed and treats inflammation.
